In their dance production SHE LEGEND the choreographer duo Rykena / Jüngst (Hamburg / Munich) searches for the queer potentials of the comic world and its choreographic translations on stage. Inspired by the visual power, the abstract and bizarre forms of expression of comics, Lisa Rykena and Carolin Jüngst transform themselves into futuristic, cyborg-like shape-shifters. With their bodies they draw dilettante anti-heroines, megalomaniacal characters and accomplice-like heroines.
With exaggerated gestures and facial expressions they move through imaginary landscapes of myths, legends and apocalyptic soundscapes. They interpret superpowers with their bodies, sing about their own metamorphoses, create contemporary mythological creatures. They question their own heroism and thus embody non-conformist figures in their struggle against the norm of masculinized individual heroines.
In order to guarantee as safe a performance experience as possible for all those present, the presence of the approx. 10-voice choir, which was an important part of the original version of the piece (Kampnagel Hamburg, Dec. 2019), was dispensed with in the Corona-related revision of the piece.
Access to this dance piece will be facilitated by an online rehearsal visit, in which the two choreographers and their artistic team will present the piece and the working process and invite visitors to move and exchange ideas together via Zoom. Together, choreographic, dancing, and vocal ideas and concepts from the piece will be tested and an experimental, amateurish and joyful approach will be found. The introduction to movement is suitable for all interested people, for curious professionals as well as for laymen and for bodies of any condition.
