Mónica Garcia Vicente
Mónica was born in Salamanca, Spain and studied dance at the Real Conservatorio de Danza in Madrid and at the École-Atelier Rudra Béjart Lausanne. As a dancer, she was a member of the Company Victor Ullate, the Aterballetto under Mauro Bigonzetti, as well as the Landestheater Linz and the Staatsoper Hannover under Jörg Mannes, among others. She has performed as a soloist in choreographies by Maurice Béjart, William Forsythe, Hans van Manen, Johan Inger, and many others.
Her choreographic works come from the core, they have substance. At the same time, there is an incredible sensitivity in her choreographies. She plays with the sides from which one can approach a subject artistically, as literature, painting, acting have an almost equal place next to dance in her works. Mónica since 2015 supported by the State of Lower Saxony and various German foundations for her independent productions such as “Speaking about Carmen”, “Forma”, “Immobilità”. Her solo work “Mar adentro” won the 1.2.3.Soli Lyon Award and was invited to many international festivals.
With the “Connection Dance Center” she has opened a new chapter in her work. As founder and artistic director of the “CDC”, Mónica has been training young dance enthusiasts since the beginning of 2022, while also teaching them the artistic practice of professional dancers. Besides she is GYROTONIC© trainer at the State Opera Hannover.
